On behalf of the city of Pella and Visit Pella, we welcome you to our community. Experience our events, attractions, history, food, and hospitality. Pella, known as America’s Dutch Treasure, is the perfect place to enjoy an adventure. From a visit to North America’s largest working windmill to visiting Wyatt Earp’s boyhood home to indulging in a tasty treat from one of the Dutch bakeries, meat markets, or a pint at a local pub, Pella has something for everyone.
From humble beginnings, Pella was founded in 1847 by Dominie H. P. Scholte. Over 800 immigrants from the Netherlands settled in the prairie and turned this area into a dynamic community, home to headquarters of worldwide companies, innovation, progress, and rich history.
Pella has unique shopping, dining, and event experiences. Whether you come here for a couple’s retreat, family vacation, or friend getaway, we have something for you to enjoy. From Tulip Time in the spring to summer fun on Iowa’s largest lake to Kerstmarkt, Pella’s Dutch Christmas Market in December, we have what you are looking for in one place.
Visit Pella’s mission is to enhance the visitor experience and promote, develop, and expand the tourism experience to benefit the local economy and community.
Visit Pella aspires to be the leading tourism marketing organization to bring you the best visit when you’re here.
Thank you to our Visit Pella Board Members for their committment to growing Pella's tourism and supporting our local economy.
